Our Mission: Advancing justice and human rights for immigrants and refugees.

Founded in 2007, UURISE provides no cost and low cost legal and related services for immigrants and refugees. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively with our clients and partners to provide exceptional, inclusive, reliable service.

In service of our clients and impacted communities, we foster an organizational culture that celebrates equity and diversity, striving for collective liberation, where we bring our whole selves to our work. Our values and how we put them into action are what make us unique and essential in the field of immigration legal services and advocacy.

We provide three different but connected types of direct service. 

We offer comprehensive, free and low-cost immigration legal services. In our legal services, we specialize in helping disenfranchised, exploited, vulnerable immigrants including victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other crime. We also do a lot of work with people seeking temporary protection such as DACA, TPS, and Humanitarian Parole. 

Our CARE services include a broad range of free support services in the categories of Connections, Advocacy, Resource Navigation and Emergency Safety Planning. 

The third category - Justice Services - includes the training and organizing work we do in the immigrant communities as well as with partners and allies, policy advocacy, and Faithful Justice - which is a variety of services and supports for UU and other liberal religious congregations around the US to help them deepen and broaden their work on immigrant justice - whether it is the discernment process for providing sanctuary and/or accompaniment to at-risk individuals, developing accountable relationships in the community, or partnering on our new Justice Portals.
